The Arnolfini Marriage after Jan van Eyck
Written on July 27, 2008
The Arnolfini portrait is one of the most exquisite works of art that I have ever encountered. The level of detail in the piece, from the chandelier with its single burning candle, to the circular mirror in the centre of the portrait that reflects not only the subjects backs, but also Van Eyck himself painting the portrait, this piece is my favourite portrait ever painted. In the centre of the piece is the tag ‘Jan van Eyck was here 1434′, a unique addition to the wall that makes him one of the first taggers ever.
Van Eyck’s other work carries the same level of detail and i’m looking forward to remixing another piece of his in the near future. In the meantime, as always enjoy!

=] hello. i really love this work, it brings me a souvenir of the childhood, full of admiration and imaginaton when i was gazing on the Arnolfini Marriage…
this new vision is fantastic! =] =]
i have a cafe in Shanghai, it’s a (socalled) pioneer art readin-cafe, with a tint of goth,cult,high-fantasy,medieval art,etc…
could i request for permit to post this work on the cafe’s wall? if i can, how to mark it as the signature, just “baroquenhart.com”??
your faithfully,
suu
The Arnolfini Portrait is also one of my favorite works…for so many reasons. The first time I saw it in person I couldn’t believe the jewel-like quality emanating from it. I love what you have done with it! The way the colors ebb and flow together add a mystical dimension that draws you into the image. It makes you wonder what Van Eyck would have to say about being the inspiration for your beautiful work! I have often thought it would have been amazing to be a fly on the wall when Van Eyck’s painting was being created… to see what the Arnolfinis really looked like…what the room looked like, how he edited the scene.
